Baseball Drops Saturday Contest vs. Clemson
The Gamecocks and Tigers wrap up the series Sunday at 3 p.m. in Clemson.
COLUMBIA – The University of South Carolina baseball team fell to Clemson, 10-2, Saturday afternoon (March 5) in front of 9,070 fans at Segra Park, home of the Columbia Fireflies.
Carolina scored an unearned run in the first as Josiah Sightler reached on a muffed throw, scoring Brandt Belk from second base. Carolina’s other run was in the sixth on a Kevin Madden RBI single.
Clemson scored four runs in the fourth, taking the lead for good. The Tigers scored at least one run in each of the final five innings.
Michael Braswell had two hits to lead the Gamecock offense. Noah Hall took the loss on the mound, allowing three runs in 3.1 innings pitched with three hits and three strikeouts.
POSTGAME NOTES
- Braswell now has a hit in all 10 games for Carolina this season, becoming the first Gamecock with a 10-game hitting streak since Luke Berryhill in the 2019 season.
- The 9,070 fans were the fourth-most in Segra Park in the stadium’s history.
- Jack Mahoney made his first at-bat of the season, reached on a single in the ninth.
- Elijah Lambros made his first career start in center field.
