Lancelot Records First Career Ranked Win in Loss to Arkansas

Fayetteville, Ark. – South Carolina’s women’s tennis suffered a loss on the road on Sunday while playing with a limited lineup. With three players out due to illness, the Gamecocks were down to just four active players, and had to forfeit one doubles match and two singles matches in the loss.

After forfeiting one doubles match, Arkansas only needed one doubles win to secure the point which they did at the No. 2 position with Elise Mills and Olympe Lancelot falling 3-6.

With Arkansas having secured the doubles point and South Carolina having to forfeit two singles matches, the Razorbacks led 3-0 when singles action began.

In singles action, Lancelot played the highest in the lineup that she’s ever played for the Gamecocks and made the most of her opportunity. At the No. 3 position, Lancelot recorded the first ranked win of her career over No. 112 Indianna Spink in straight sets. The Gamecock claimed the victory 6-3, 7-5 to secure South Carolina’s lone point.

Shortly after, the Razorbacks clinched the match on Court 4 where freshman Anna Kantor fell in her first career dual singles match.

The women’s tennis team will return home for their final home matches of the season this coming Friday and Sunday. The Gamecocks will host Ole Miss on Friday and 5:00 p.m. and Mississippi State on Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
