Equestrian Wraps Up SECs Against Georgia in Consolation Final

COLLEGE STATION, TX – The South Carolina Equestrian team (7-8) wrapped up the 2024 SEC Championship facing Georgia in the consolation round, falling to the Bulldogs 12-7.

The Gamecock Reining squad got things started, taking two points in the event. Senior Emilia Reutimann took her point 70.5-0 on Colonel over Hannah Jane Lucas, while sophomore Mattie McNeill rounded out the rides with her 71-70.17 win on Joe against Caitlyn Lyons.

Over on the Flat, the Gamecocks grabbed the first two available points over the Bulldogs, with Jayne securing a career-high 93.67 earning the win over Sophia Pilla’s 87.67 on Bebe. For her ride, Jayne secured the Flat MOP on the day. Sophie Mitchell followed suit, defeating Isabella David 86.33-83.67 on Diablo. Mary Hunter Millet tallied a career-high 91.33, tying with Jordan Toering on Queen. Georgia took the remaining two points.

The Bulldogs swept Fences 5-0,  but South Carolina finished the day with a 3-2 win in Horsemanship. Newcomer Jordyn Humbert earned her point on Palmer, 73.83-68.50 over Jordan Davis, while Tierney Horton came out on top 75.33-74.5 on Bailey. Horton’s score was the highest of the day in the event out of both teams, leading the way for her third MOP of the season.
