Gamecocks Draw NCAA Tournament No. 1 Seed in Sacramento 4

For the sixth-consecutive season and 10th time overall, South Carolina women’s basketball has earned an NCAA Tournament No. 1 seed. Making their 14th straight appearance at the event, the Gamecocks are the No. 1 seed in the Sacramento 4 Regional. They will host first- and second-round games at Colonial Life Arena this weekend.

Edwards scores 27 in NCAA Tournament 1st round win
Joyce Edwards had 27 points and eight rebounds and No. 1 seed South Carolina won its 17th straight home women’s NCAA Tournament game with a 103-34 defeat of 16th-seeded Southern on Saturday.
Edwards and the Gamecocks (32-3) opened with a 15-0 burst and never let up against the Jaguars (20-14), the Southwestern Athletic Conference champions.
South Carolina, already up 25 at the break, outscored Southern 32-2 in the third quarter.

Top-seed South Carolina heads into Sweet 16
Joyce Edwards had 23 points and 10 rebounds, Madina Okot added her 22nd double-double this season with 15 points and 15 rebounds and top-seeded South Carolina advanced to its 12th straight Sweet 16 with a 101-61 victory over No. 9 seed Southern California in the women’s NCAA Tournament on Monday night.

Latson, Johnson power South Carolina into the Elite Eight
Ta’Niya Latson scored 28 points and Raven Johnson added 18 to help top-seed South Carolina beat No. 4 seed Oklahoma 94-68 on Saturday and advance to the Elite Eight of the women’s March Madness tournament.
South Carolina will face TCU on Monday night for the chance to go to the Final Four in Phoenix from the Sacramento 4 Regional.

Edwards, Makeer power South Carolina into Final Four
Dawn Staley and South Carolina are back in a familiar place — the Final Four. Joyce Edwards scored 24 points and Agot Makeer added 18 to help South Carolina beat TCU 78-52 on Monday night to advance to the semifinals in the women’s NCAA Tournament.
South Carolina (34-3) has now reached the Final Four in six straight years and won two national championships during that stretch. Staley has been at the helm for all of them, including the undefeated 2023-24 season.

South Carolina smothers UConn 62-48 to advance to NCAA title game
Ta’Niya Latson scored 16 and Agot Makeer added 14 points and South Carolina played stifling defense to beat UConn 62-48 on Friday night, ending the Huskies’ 54-game winning streak and advancing to the women’s NCAA Tournament championship game.
The Gamecocks will face the winner of Texas and UCLA semifinal on Sunday for the title, capping off another March Madness. South Carolina (36-3) will be looking to win its fourth national championship. Their other three have come in the last decade.
