In a meeting held on Friday, October 9, the University of South Carolina Gamecock Club Board of Directors unanimously approved a recommendation by Athletics Director Eric Hyman to not increase dues for the upcoming membership year.
“We appreciate the continued financial support and loyalty of Gamecock Nation,” said Hyman. “And we also recognize and understand the difficult economic times we are facing. I recommended, and the board agreed unanimously, that we should freeze our membership dues for the coming year to provide some relief to our valued supporters. We will continue to monitor the economic situation and take any future recommendations to the Gamecock Club Board of Directors for review at the appropriate time.”
In May 2007, the Gamecock Club Board of Directors approved a schedule in which Gamecock Club membership dues would increase at a rate of 10 percent annually for a period of five years, effective January 1, 2008. In February 2009, the Board voted on and approved freezing all dues increases for the 2010 giving year. Thus far, only one increase (2009) in the five-year plan has occurred.
Applications for the 2011 calendar year will be mailed in January of 2010.
