COLUMBIA, S.C. –
The South Carolina Athletics Department participated in the first annual Unity in the Community event on Saturday, August 1, at Second Nazareth Baptist Church on Elmwood Avenue.

Unity in the Community was organized by the Edgewood Community Foundation, Second Nazareth Baptist Church and Trinity Baptist Church as a back to school kickoff for area school children. Three hundred school bags with supplies were distributed to children who attended the event.

The crowd enjoyed spending time with Cocky, who challenged members of the crowd to a dance-off and posed for pictures. South Carolina’s sports marketing department was also on hand to pass out fall sports posters and football magnets.

Unity in the Community will be an annual Edgewood event aimed to prepare area kids for the upcoming school year.
