We are looking forward to the upcoming season under the new direction of South Carolina Athletics! The South Carolina Dance Team performs at all home basketball games. At the games, the team performs one or more half time routines as well as sideline dances. Although this team will not be performing at the beginning of the fall season, conditioning workouts and dance practices will begin in early fall. This team will also have the opportunity to compete nationally at the annual NDA Championship Competition in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Tryouts will be held Sunday, September 9th at the Strom Thurmond Fitness Center located on the corner of Blossom St. and Assembly St. The tryout material will be taught from 10:00am-12:00pm. After a two-hour break auditions will begin at 2pm.

What to expect at the audition:
**A short dance routine including: jazz, pom, and hip-hop
**Demonstration of the following technical skills:
– Triple pirouette
– Fouette turns (turns in second)
– Side leap
– Switch leap
– 3 additional turns/leaps of your choice

What to wear:
– Form-fitting Athletic Top
– Jazz pants
– Full make-up
– Hair pulled back

What to bring: – Completed registration form
– Full length photo
– Water

Note: If you are unable to attend the auditions please contact: uscdanceteam@hotmail.com for further information regarding a videotape submission. Videotape submissions will be judged on the day of tryouts by the same panel of judges.

The new 2007-2008 dance team members will be contacted via e-mail or phone within 48 hours after tryouts.

Note: Girls who are chosen for the South Carolina Dance Team are expected to attend our private dance camp hosted by NDA staff at the University of South Carolina. This camp will take place September 22nd-23rd from 9am- 4pm and will cost $165 per person. It is important for all team members to be present at this camp as this is when we learn most of our material for the upcoming season.
