More than 50 Carolina student-athletes greeted fans and signed autographs at the WIS News 10 Back to School Bash on Saturday, July 28th.
The Back to School Bash, an annual event, was held at the Cantey Building at the South Carolina State Fairgrounds from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Over two dozen organizations were on hand to help students and parents prepare for the upcoming school year.
The lines may have been long, but the kids and fans were eager to meet the Gamecock athletes. Over 2,500 kids and parents received fall sports posters and schedule cards.
Dawn Ellerbe, Director of Marketing for Varsity Sports, said the event is great for the city. “The event allows us to touch an important part of our community, its youth.”
The event is an excellent way for fans in the community to relate to South Carolina Athletics.
“The athletes are excited each year to participate,” she said. “It gives the community a chance to put a face with a name that they see playing on the field or in the arenas.”
