Post Game Quotes
South Carolina Head Coach Dave Odom:
On the game:
“Much like our last two or three games, we ran into a team that shot the ball extremely well early. To be honest, I thought some of the shots that they took were well covered, obviously they weren’t. I’ve told our players before, that if they can shoot like that and not feel the pressure, then we need to work on our defense.”
On the defense:
“For whatever reason, opposing teams feel extremely comfortable against our defense and that has got to change. It just has to. You can go through games where your defense can hold you, and eventually offense will work itself out, but when your defense caves in like it did in the second half; it makes it extremely difficult to come back.”
On the first half:
“I think our team played a little better in the first half than we have in then past few games. We missed a lot of point blank shots. The game should have been closer at the half than it was, so we would have a chance in the second half to make a run for it.”
On the second half:
“In the second half we had to overcome some things that we haven’t been able to do this season, one of which is fatigue the other is good teams. We play seven guys on a regular basis so fatigue has really affected us.”
Kentucky Head Coach Tubby Smith
“Our guys were focused, and we took care of the basketball. I thought our guys showed respect for South Carolina by the way we played. I know South Carolina’s going through some tough times right now because of injuries. You always sympathize with coaches with things that happen that can put your team in a tailspin.”
USC Forward Brandon Wallace
“I’ve seen us turn it around before. We turned it around last year so I don’t see why we can’t do it this year we have to stop somebody first.”
USC Guard Tre’ Kelley
“We work hard enough to not deserve losses in that type of fashion.”
“We have to keep pushing. Someway and somehow we have to win. If you just walk down on yourself it will only get worse.”
