An agreement on a one-year extension of the radio rights between the University of South Carolina and the Citadel Broadcasting Company has been reached, the parties jointly announced today.
The original five-year contract, which began in 2002, has been extended for an additional year, through the 2007-08 season. It includes the rights to broadcast via radio the University’s intercollegiate football games, including post-season games, men’s and women’s basketball games, baseball games, weekly coaches’ shows, and any other related Network programming in the market.
“We are happy to extend our partnership with Citadel Broadcasting for an additional year,” said Liz McMillan, Gamecock Sports Properties General Manager. “They have promoted the University of South Carolina and our athletic programs in a professional manner with a strong signal that rivals other schools in the Southeastern Conference.”
In Columbia, USC football games can be heard on WISW-AM (1320) and on WTCB-FM (106.7). The remainder of the broadcasted events can be heard on WISW-AM and on WOMG-FM (103.1). Additionally, radio affiliates are lined up throughout the state of South Carolina.
“We are delighted to extend our partnership with the University of South Carolina,” said Bill McElveen, Citadel Communications Vice President Southeast Region. “This is clearly an exciting time for all Gamecock fans and we look forward to seeing Eric Hyman’s vision of the future for USC athletics come to fruition over the next several years.”
