The South Carolina football squad continued preparations for Saturday’s 12:30 p.m. matchup at Arkansas with a two-hour workout at the Bluff Road practice fields on Wednesday. Following the practice, Gamecock Head Coach Steve Spurrier addressed the media:

“Normal practice today and looking forward to the game this week. It’s a big one – one of the biggest of the year – it is the biggest of the year for us, so hopefully we’ll play our best.”

Terrell Davis will start at linebacker for Mike West. We’re going to give him a chance. We’re going to see if he can make more plays than Mike’s been making – it’s as simple as that. He hasn’t had much of a chance yet, so we’re going to give him a chance. We’ve got to get someone to help out with the tackling.”

“Everybody’s all set (along the offensive line).”

On his impressions of the Arkansas defense: “Their defense is pretty good. The reason they’re ranked so low is because Southern Cal made about 700 yards and 70 points. Since then they’ve been tough. I think Auburn had 10 at the end of three quarters.”

On winning back-to-back road games in the SEC: “Used to not be very tough at all. Depends on how good of team you have is how tough it is. Simple as that.”

“We know its going to be a very tough game. We’re underdogs by what six or seven? We’ve got to play our best to beat them, we know that.”
