Jyllissa Harris Named to All-SEC First Team
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – South Carolina women’s soccer central defender Jyllissa Harris has been named to the All-SEC First Team, as announced by the conference on Sunday, October 31.
Harris, a senior from Hazlet, N.J., becomes the eighth Gamecock in program history to earn multiple All-SEC First Team Honors, after also being named to the first team last season. She was a second team selection in 2019 and was named to the All-Freshman team in 2018.
Harris has been a mainstay on the backline for the Gamecocks, starting all 17 matches and playing every minute in 14 of those, accounting for over 1,500 minutes on the pitch. She has been on the field for every minute of conference play. Harris has helped the Gamecocks earn five shutouts on the season, three of which have come in SEC play. She is tied for second on the team with four goals, scoring twice in conference matches. Earlier this season she was named the SEC Defensive Player of the week, the third Player of the Week honor of her career.
South Carolina begins play in the SEC Tournament Tuesday, November 2, when they face No. 5 seed Auburn at 8:30 p.m. ET on the SEC Network.
