No. 1 Gamecocks Open Play in Chicago Monday
Team making its third appearance at the Windy City Collegiate Classic
WILMETTE, Ill. – No. 1 South Carolina is back in the Midwest this week to compete in the Windy City Collegiate Classic, the team’s second event of the 2021-22 season. Teams will play 36 holes on Monday with the final round taking place Tuesday at Westmoreland Country Club.
The Gamecocks will be paired with No. 2 Duke and No. 22 Oregon for the first two rounds. Junior transfer Justine Fournand will lead things off at 8:39 a.m. (ET) on hole 10.
South Carolina will trot out the same group of five that led the team to a dominant, seven-shot win in the season-opener at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate. The lineup order has changed slightly based off player’s finishes in Minnesota. True freshman standout Hannah Darling will be the top player in the lineup this week after her runner-up finish at the ANNIKA in her collegiate debut.
Sophomore Paula Kirner will make her first appearance this season playing as an individual.
This will mark the team’s third trip to the event. The Gamecocks took home the team championship in 2019. All-American Pauline Roussin-Bouchard was medalist, setting freshman records for 54-hole score (205) and 18-hole score (65).
Live scoring is available the next two days via Golfstat.
