Gamecocks Take Seventh at Tar Heel Invitational

Chapel Hill, N.C. – The South Carolina women’s golf team shot an even-par 288 to finish 3-under, good for seventh place, at the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational on Sunday at the UNC Finley Golf Course.
 
“Overall we had a good last couple days,” head coach Kalen Anderson said. “We had about five or six holes that first day that killed us and took us out of the tournament. Overall it was a really good lesson in terms of the week, and this is a really strong team. Overall this is a really resilient group, even par today was second lowest round today with some rainy conditions. The team was tough and rebounded after a really tough first round. Overall it’s not where we wanted to finish but we had a really strong last two days.”   
 
Senior Lois Kaye Go finished strong on Sunday, shooting a 2-under to finish in a tie for ninth place. Go tallied three birdies on the day.
 
Sophomore Emily Price continued her steady streak on the course, finishing with a 2-under for the tournament, tied for 13^th place. This tops her 23^rd place finish as a freshman.
 
Freshman Mathilde Classie notched the highest finish of her young career with a 73 on Sunday to finish 1-over for the tournament, tied for 27^th place.  
 
Pauline Roussin-Bouchard got to her steady game on Sunday, tallying her second consecutive 72 to finish the tournament at 2-over, tied for 32^nd. The freshman sank five birdies on Sunday, the best on the team.
 
Ana Pelaez rounded out her tournament with a 76 to finish 6-over, while Smith Knaffle shot a 78 in the final round to finish tied for 73^rd place.
 
The Gamecocks have one final tournament in the fall, the Landfall Tradition. The team travels to Wilmington, N.C. to get things started at the Landfall on Oct. 25.
