Gamecocks Show Out at USA National Championships
STANFORD, Calif.- South Carolina swimming and diving turned in another good performance on the summer swimming circuit at the 2019 Phillips 66 USA National Championships. The Gamecocks had 10 current and former student-athletes swim at the meet.
A pair of Gamecocks, recent graduate Emma Barksdale and sophomore transfer Lewis Burras combined for four top-10 finishes. Barksdale took home fourth and sixth in the 200m and 400m IM, respectively, while Burras picked up two first-place finishes in the B-final of the 100m and 50mfreestyle races.
Carolina also had swimmers qualify for the USA Olympic trials in four different races. Barksdale qualified for the 200m and 400m IM, while Emily Cornell and Hallie Kinsey also joined the list of Gamecocks headed to Olympic trials. Cornell made the cut for the 100m backstroke, and Kinsey made the 100m butterfly cut.
