Gamecocks Shine on Summer Circuit
COLUMBIA, S.C.—It has been a busy and successful summer for South Carolina men’s tennis, with multiple players taking the summer circuit by storm. Led by Paul Jubb’s Wimbledon appearance, the Gamecocks have been well represented all over the globe at all levels. Here are some highlights from the 2019-20 roster during the summer.
Jake Beasley
- Picked up a win in the BB&T Atlanta Open Wildcard Challenge
- Won the consolation doubles at the Credo Tennis Championships
- Reached the semifinals in both singles and doubles at the Georgia State Open Championships
Thomas Brown
- Was entered in the main draw of the Cvitt Pro Invite
- Won two doubles matches with fellow Gamecock Beau Pelletier at Cvitt Pro Invitationals, reaching the quarterfinals
Phillip Jordan
- Set to play in the 2019 USTA Boy’s 18 National Championship in Kalamazoo, Mich, where the tournament winner receives a wildcard into the US Open Main Draw.
- Picked up three wins in the USTA Boy’s 18 National Clay Court Championships in Delray Beach
Paul Jubb
- Has made a splash on the pro tour, playing in three tournaments, including Wimbledon
- He is set to play in M25 Roehampton, M25 Chiswick and the M25 Memphis to finish up the summer circuit
Raphael Lambling
- Picked up his first ITF Tour singles win at M15 Uriage
- Won five total ITF Tour matches, four singles and one doubles, over the course of the summer
Daniel Rodrigues:
- Won two matches at the World University Games representing Portugal in both singles and doubles
- Was runner up of his first pro tournament, ITF M25 Porto, where he won six straight matches from qualifying all the way to the finals
Beau Pelletier
- Has been active on the summer tour, playing in the Cvitt Pro Invite in Lynchberg, Va, and the Mid-Atlantic McDonalds Clay Court Championships
- Won two singles and two doubles matches at the Cvitt Pro Invite
Connor Thomson
- Won two junior doubles titles, J1 Roehampton and J1 Nottingham
- Played in his first pro tournament, the M25 Roehampton
