South Carolina Opens Season with SEC Tri-Meet

Oct. 13, 2017

COLUMBIA, Mo. – South Carolina men’s and women’s swimming and diving kicks off the 2017-18 season in a tri-meet at Missouri with Arkansas’ women’s team. Competition takes place on Saturday in the Mizzou Aquatic center starting at 1 p.m. ET and sets the stage for the Gamecocks’ competitive schedule, which features four home meets and several top-25 opponents.

South Carolina is coming off a record year where the men took 15th in the NCAA Championships. The men look to build on their success with a recruiting class ranked 12th in the nation by SwimSwam.com. Between the men and women, the Gamecocks return six All-Americans to the 2017-18 squad.

Arkansas women’s swim team will be competing for the first time since Sept. 16, when it opened their season with a 149-83 win over SMU. Saturday also marks Mizzou’s second meet of the season, coming off a first-place finish at the Show-Me Showdown, which featured seven other Missouri swimming programs.

The South Carolinamen and women are both 1-1 in their series against Mizzou, while the women are up 8-4 against the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Live results for Saturday’s meet are available here. The meet will also be broadcast live on SEC Network +, here. Gamecock fans can also stay up-to-date by following @GamecockSwim on Twitter!
