Columbia, S.C. – The University of South Carolina men’s soccer team released its 2003 schedule this week which features eight teams that advanced to last season’s NCAA Tournament – Virginia (8/23), Richmond (9/5), Portland (9/26), Clemson (10/5), Wake Forest (10/12), Furman (10/19), North Carolina (11/8) and Florida International (11/15). The Gamecocks will also face six teams that concluded the 2002 season ranked in the NSCAA/adidas Top 25.

South Carolina travels to Charlottesville, Va. for an exhibition match against the Virginia Cavaliers before opening the regular season at home against Boston University on Friday, Aug. 29. Following the Sept. 1 match against the Stetson Hatters, the Gamecocks will play in back-to-back tournaments. USC travels to the Aaron Olitsky Memorial Classic in Charleston, S. C. to take on Richmond and Northwestern on Sept. 5-7. The Gamecocks then host the annual South Carolina Gamecock Soccer Classic with Jacksonville and Alabama A&M visiting Eugene E. Stone III Stadium.

The Gamecocks play in their final tournament of the 2003 season on Sept. 26-28 at the Washington Husky Classic in Seattle, Wash. During that tournament, South Carolina will play Portland and host Washington.

The Gamecocks head to Clemson, S.C. on Sunday, Oct. 5 to play arch-rival Clemson. South Carolina returns home to host Elon and Wake Forest. After USC plays at Charlotte on Oct. 15 and Furman on Oct. 19, the Gamecocks will host its final three matches of the season, which include Davidson, College of Charleston and North Carolina. The Gamecocks conclude the regular season in Miami when they face the Florida International Golden Panthers.
