Gamecocks Add Breukelen Woodard for 2017 Season

June 1, 2017

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina women’s soccer added another student-athlete to its 2017 signing class with the addition of Breukelen Woodard (pronounced Brooklyn). The attacking midfielder joins the Gamecocks after playing for the FC Stars of Massachusetts in the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL).

Woodard helped guide the FC Stars to the Northeast Conference title and a spot in the playoffs in 2016. She was tabbed her club’s MVP in 2015 after leading the team to the national finals.

The Rutland, Vt., native also played four years at Burr and Burton Academy, where she was a three-time all-state honoree and a four-time all-league selection. She was the team’s leading goal scorer throughout her high school career, and the All-America candidate grabbed team MVP laurels as a junior and senior. The midfielder received the team’s Coaches Award in her first season for the Bulldogs, who captured their first ever Division I State Championship during her time on the team.

Woodard is set to join a Gamecock squad that set a single-season program record with 51 goals this past season. Carolina, the 2016 SEC Regular-Season Champions, posted a mark of 21-2-1 last year and advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight for the second time since 2014.
