The University of South Carolina Athletics Department is excited to launch a new partnership with the University Housing to challenge the students living on-campus to attend as many SEC men’s and women’s basketball games as possible all while experiencing an aspect of life on campus.

Beginning on Sunday, January 1, 2017, when the Gamecock women’s basketball team opens SEC play vs. Alabama and ending on Tuesday, February 28, when the men’s basketball team takes on Mississippi State, the residence hall that has the highest percentage of student reward points earned over the 17 SEC games, will be the winner of our inaugural Community March Madness.

All residence halls will be eligible to compete in the Community March Madness and due to size, some of them have been combined. The residence halls include: 820 Henderson, Bates House, Bates West, Capstone, Cliff Apartments, Columbia Hall, East Quad, Green Quad, Honors Residence, Horseshoe (Woodrow/Thornwell, Rutledge, Pinckney/Legare, Harper/Elliot and DeSaussure), Maxcy, McBryde, Patterson, Preston, South Quad, South Tower and Women’s Quad. Every two weeks, Gamecock Athletics will release the standings of our Community March Madness challenge.

In order to receive points for attending basketball games, students must claim a ticket on their Carolina Card and enter the Colonial Life Arena at the College Street entrance. Students can claim their tickets by logging in to their Student Account Manager. Tickets for the first men’s and women’s SEC games will be available to claim on Monday, December 19 with the remainder of games being released weekly starting on Monday, January 9. Student tickets must be claimed four hours before the game, when they are removed from the system.
