COLUMBIA, S.C. – Women’s soccer head coach Shelley Smith announced the addition of goalkeeper Caroline Kelly, a transfer from Virginia Tech, and incoming freshman Jacky Huchler. Kelly will be eligible in the fall and has one year of remaining eligibility.

AT VIRGINIA TECH: Tied for third in career shutouts (11) and fourth in career wins (16) in Virginia Tech history after three years of play…Ranks first in Hokie history with career goals against average (.628)…second in career save percentage (.803)…in the 2014 season, tied for second in single-season shutouts (7) and recorded the lowest single season goals against average in Virginia Tech history (0.69)….started 15 games in 2014, producing an 11-4 record…two-time ACC Honor Roll selection (2013, 2014)…named to the Dean’s list in Spring of 2014 and Fall and Spring of 2013.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played for Bruce Konner’s Sunrise Sting and went undefeated in the 2014-15 season on the way to a Region III Premier League Championship…Sunrise Sting also captured Region III Premiere League East Championship in 2013-14 and was Florida State Cup Champions in 2010 and 2013…captained the varsity soccer team for Kate Dwyer at Cypress Bay…team advanced to the state semifinals her freshman season and was ranked in the nation’s top 10 in 2014…won multiple district titles and advanced to regionals each season at Cypress Bay…was also a captain for the Cypress Bay cross country team for two seasons and captained the track and field team for three seasons.
PERSONAL: Born March 14, 1997, Jacqueline Huchler is the daughter of Heike Huchler…intends to major in Exercise Science at South Carolina…enjoys running, playing with her dog, hitting the tennis courts with her family and baking.
