Rising junior Tiffany Mitchell continues our 2014 Summer Blog with photos from her trip to Moscow, Russia, with USA Basketball to compete – and win GOLD – in the FIBA 3×3 World Championships. (Click on the photo to see a larger version.)
Luzhniki Park We got to practice at the park before competition started. There were four courts, all outdoors but with a covering over the court, which was like a tile floor. |
The Ruble We exchanged our dollars for rubles, and it was hard to get used to the exchange. This 100 rubles is only around $1.50. |
State Historical Museum We did some sight-seeing after practice on Wednesday. This is a main focus in Red Square, where most tourists come to take pictures. |
St. Basil’s Cathedral Another standard stop for tourists in Moscow. It looks like Aladdin’s Palace to me! |
State Department Store – GUM And, of course, we had to find the mall! It was much bigger than malls in the U.S. with more than 150 stores. It seemed like there were similar stores to U.S. malls, even though I couldn’t read the signs in Russian. The escalators only went up, so if you wanted to go down you had to take the steps – ha ha. Didn’t buy anything – too expensive! |
2014 FIBA 3×3 World Champion Finally, what we’ve been practicing for and why we came to Moscow! It was a fun experience, winning with these three girls and learning things I can bring back to Columbia with me. |
