BERLIN – South Carolina freshman Kevin Leithold delivered a strong performance at the German World Championship Trials in Berlin, Germany over the weekend.
A native of Sandersdorf Brehna, Germany, Leithold made the A final in both the 100-meter freestyle and 50-meter butterfly. In the 100 freestyle preliminary, he placed second with a personal best of 49.89. He then improved his time in the A final to 49.80, which was good enough for sixth place. He advanced to the A final in the 50 butterfly with a time of 24.95 in the preliminary and followed that up with a personal record of 24.79 in the A final to finish seventh.
Leithhold made the consolation final of the 50-meter freestyle and finished 15th with a time of 23.49. He also swam in the 200-meter freestyle and placed 42nd with a mark of 1:55.98.
