COLUMBIA, S.C. — Kayla Lampe from the Gamecock track and field team has been named AgSouth Athlete of the Week.

Lampe’s PR of 16:39.15 in her race on Friday broke Sue McGhie’s school record in the 5,000-meters that had stood for 20 years (16:49.61 in 1992) and is one of only two sub-17 minute times in South Carolina indoor history. Lampe placed fourth in a loaded field in New York at the Armory Collegiate Invitational and her time ranks second in the SEC and 20th in the nation this season.
