COVINGTON, Ga. — South Carolina freshman Chelsey Couch carded a 3-over 74 on Wednesday to qualify for the U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship in a qualifier at The Oaks Course in Covington, Ga.

Couch was one of five golfers from the qualifier to secure a spot in the championship, which will be held at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Course in Norman, Okla., on June 17-22.

A native of Ware Shoals, S.C., Couch played in five tournaments for the Gamecocks this season and posted a scoring average of 76.92. Her best finish came at the UCF Challenge, where she tied for 36th.

The U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship is one of 13 national championships put on each year by the United States Golf Association. Only 156 golfers will make the field out of more than 700 entrants.
