COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina equestrian coach Boo Major has announced the signing of Adele Norton (Falls Church, Va.) to a national letter of intent to join the Gamecocks for the 2011-2012 season. Norton will be competing with South Carolina’s Hunt Seat squad.
“Adele will be a great addition to our team. She has proven herself in the junior hunter ranks and is a rising star in the equitation as well,” Major said. “We are excited to add another equestrian from Virginia.”
Norton trains with Pam Baker, a relationship that has proven successful as she has a championship-filled resume. Some of her highlights include:

A senior at St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes School in Alexandria, Va., Norton is a member of the French Honors Society, a Normandy Scholar, and a two-time winner of the St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes Poetry Competition.
Born June 2, 1993 to parents Robert and Rita Norton, Adele Norton has one sister, Isabella. Norton considered the College of William & Mary, Georgia, Northeastern, and Villanova before signing with South Carolina. While at South Carolina, Norton will major in Journalism at the University of South Carolina’s College of Mass Communications and Information Studies.
Norton received the presitigious McKissick Scholars Award from the University, which is awarded to freshmen who receive an average SAT score of 1346 on critical reading and math sections combined and an average weighted high school GPA of 4.06.
