COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina (31-12, 12-6) closes out a nine-game homestand this weekend as they host the Kentucky Wildcats (19-20, 3-9 SEC) in a three-game series Sat. and Sun. April 13-14. The games are slated for a 1 p.m. start on both days at Beckham Field.

Kentucky is currently last in the SEC east and is 7-15 against USC. In their last four meetings, the two teams are 2-2 with the Wildcats taking two of the three in the series in Lexington last year. However, in their last outing against each other, Carolina defeated Kentucky in the SEC Tournament.

Kentucky is 3-2 in their last five games as they won their series against Mississippi State 2-1 and split a doubleheader with Louisville in a midweek contest. USC just completed a series against Georgia and took two of the three. The Gamecocks defeated the Bulldogs 4-3 and 2-1 but fell 1-2 in ten innings in game three. The loss snapped a ten-game win streak for USC. Megan Matthews continues her quest for South Carolina’s all-time career strikeout record as she needs just 12 more strikeouts to set milestone.

Saturday will be Youth League Day. All youth league teams will be admitted into the game for $1 when they wear their team jersey. Saturday is also decorated banner day. Carolina will hold a contest for the best decorated poster or sign supporting Carolina softball.
