COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina women’s tennis team completed a successful opening day at the 2001 Furman Fall Classic Friday as six Gamecocks were victorious in singles action while the Carolina doubles teams combined to go 5-3.
Action continues Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at the Mickel Tennis Center in Greenville.
Katarina Markovski, Kathy Boyanovich and Lynn-Yin Tan each picked up where they left off last spring, winning their opening round matches to advance to the semi-finals of their flights. USC newcomers Jodi Kenoyer and Magda Wojdyto also landed wins in their first matches in the garnet and black.
In doubles action, the team of Tamara Sutton and Audrey George won both of its Friday matches in Flight Four competition, including an 8-3 win over Clemson’s Harmon/Dolinska.
