COLUMBIA, S.C. – Concluding an outstanding weekend of tennis action, the South Carolina women’s tennis won five of the six draw championships Sunday as action culminated at the 2001 Lady Gamecock Fall Classic at the Maxcy Gregg Tennis Center on the USC campus.

Senior Lynn-Yin Tan started the winning for Carolina with her 3-6,6-3,6-2 three-set win over Georgia Tech’s L. Ozolins in the B Draw final. Tan, who has more wins in her career than any other current Gamecock, moved into fifth place on the all-time wins list with 84 career singles wins.

In the C Draw, junior Catherine Brown outlasted teammate Magda Wojdyto 7-6(4),4-6,6-2 for that championship. Junior Jodi Kenoyer beat Charleston’s Magory for third place in the A Draw while Jennifer Radman fell to Tech’s J. Wong 6-7(5),6-3,7-6(0) in the A Draw championship match.

Tamara Sutton and Audrey George were also winners of consolation matches for Carolina. Sutton finished in 5th place in the B Draw while George took 7th in the C Draw.

In doubles action, Carolina won all three draw championships. Radman/Boyanovich had no troubles in the A Draw, downing Charleston’s team of Moriera/Valkenhoff 8-3. In the B Draw, Tan/Kenoyer beat Tech’s Ozolins/Gunn 8-4 for the title. In the C Draw, the Gamecocks’ Katarina Markovski and Magda Wojdyto outlasted teammates Catherine Brown and Audrey George 8-5 for the championship.

Carolina sends Jennifer Radman and Kathy Boyanovich to Pacific Palisades, Calif., this Tuesday for the All-American Championship. The rest of the Gamecock roster is back in action at the Rolex Regional Championships October 26-29 in Winston-Salem, N.C.
