Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina men’s soccer forward Joey Worthen was invited to the 2002 Umbro Select All-Star Classic. During the 2001 season Worthen posted six goals and five assists for a total of 17 points. The NSCAA/adidas First Team All-South player was also named to the Soccer America Team of the Week (Sept. 23) for his effort against Elon and Charlotte.

The Umbro Select All-Star Classic features two all-star games featuring the top senior players from around the United States. This year’s events will take place Feb. 9-10 with the men’s game on Saturday and the women’s game on Sunday. Broward County Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. will host the event.

In the past six years more than 700 of the top collegiate players in the United States have played in this annual event. Many of the players were drafted during this event and have moved on to pursue professional soccer careers.
