South Carolina seniors Shaunzinski Gortman and Teresa Geter are among 80 players selected to participate in the 2002 WNBA Pre-Draft Camp at the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago on April 12 and 13th. 12 other Southeastern Conference players join Gortman and Geter in the workouts.
The duo will showcase their skills during the two-day combine in hopes of being selected by one of the16 WNBA teams in the WNBA Draft on April 19th.
On Friday, the players will participate in drills, position work and half-court games. After lunch, the players will participate in full-court games from 2:00 until 7:00 p.m.
On Saturday, the players return to drills and at 12:15, the players start full-court games that are scheduled to last until 9:00 p.m.
The WNBA Draft will take place on Friday April 19th and will begin at 11:30 a.m. from the NBA Entertainment offices in Secaucus, New Jersey. The Draft will consist of four rounds with 16 teams making selections. It will televised live by ESPN2. The WNBA training camps open on Monday, APril 29th with preseason action tipping off on May 9th.
