GREENVILLE, SC –
The South Carolina women’s golf team fired a weekend best 304 Sunday to finish in 14th place with a score of 939 at the Lady Paladin Invitational at the Furman Universtity Golf Course. Auburn fired a 294 on Sunday to hold off Wake Forest and win the tournament by four strokes. Four out of the top five teams were from the SEC.

South Carolina junior Kristy McPherson shot a weekend best, one-over 73 on Sunday and finished eight-over par (225) giving her a tie for 10th place. This is McPherson’s second top ten finish of the year. Teammate Kory Thompson also fired a 73 and finished with a 235 and a tie for 46th. Rounding out the weekend scores for Carolina were Kacy Thompson – (77, 236, T50th) Marci Robinson (81, 243, T80th) and Tiffiany Catafygioto (81, 253, T94th). Adrienne Gautreaux played as an individual and fired a 81 on Sunday, finishing with a 249, T 90th.

Auburn fired a tournament best of 294, finishing with a twenty-nine over-par 893. Wake Forest finished in a close second with a 296 on Sunday, a total of 897. Lousiana State finished in a distant third firing a 301 on Sunday, 909 total. Florida finished fourth with a 915, and Vanderbilt finished fifth with a 916.

Meredith Duncan of LSU never looked back after day one, firing a one-over 73 on Sunday and finishing in first place with an even par 216. Nuria Clau finished three strokes back with a three-over 219, firing a two-over 74 on Sunday. Danielle Downey of Auburn finished in third place, with a six-over 222, followed by a four-way tie for fourth. Emily Bastel of Michigan State, Deborah Means of Wake Forest, Diana Ramage of Auburn, and Courtney Wood of Vanderbilt all finished with a seven-over 233. Ramage fired the best round of the four on Sunday, an even-par 72.
