COLUMBIA, S.C. – The 17th-ranked South Carolina women’s tennis team will square off with 13th-ranked Tennessee Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Maxcy Gregg Tennis Center on the USC campus in a quarterfinal SEC Tournament match.

The Gamecocks, the tournament’s fourth seed, received a bye in the event. 5th-seeded Tennessee was a 4-0 winner over 12th-seed Arkansas Thursday in first round action.

USC (14-6, 7-4 SEC) beat Tennessee (17-8, 7-4 SEC) just two weeks ago in their only regular season meeting, 5-2, in Columbia.

A win Friday would send Carolina to its third ever semifinal appearance. USC is 0-1 all-time against the Lady Vols in SEC Tournament play, losing 5-1 to Tennessee in a quarterfinal match in 1992, USC’s first year of SEC competition.

Other matches set for Friday on the USC campus are: No. 1 Georgia vs. No. 8 Ole Miss (10 a.m., Maxcy Gregg), No. 3 Vanderbilt vs. No. 6 Auburn (10 a.m., Sam Daniel) and No. 2 Florida vs. No. 7 Kentucky (2 p.m., Sam Daniel).
