Game 7 Quotes
UNC Quotes:
Head Coach Mike Fox: “South Carolina has a great team and they deserved to win. My hat’s off to them. My congratulations to USC. This is a tough way for a lot of teams to end their season. We played with a lot of heart and I hope people admire that and enjoy that. This team has a lot of heart and character. I just think we got beat.”
On Yaron Peters: “You make a mistake with him and he’s going to hurt you.”
On being tossed from the game: “Emotions are running high and that’s the way it works. I didn’t mean for that to be the case certainly.”
South Carolina Quotes:
Head Coach Ray Tanner: “This was incredible. North Carolina has a great club and I congratulate them…they took it to us today. After you lose a game it’s difficult. It was truly a great win against a tremendous team. This group takes a lot of pride in college baseball and the way we play. It was a tremendous atmosphere and I’m really proud of our fans. They are a major part of our success and the players and I are very grateful for their support.”
On Game 6 against UNC: “I thought we had a chance to score we just couldn’t get that rally that we were looking for.”
On Blake Taylor: “I had no idea we could get that kind of performance. We know how good Blake Taylor is but that’s just a performance of heart and character. That is one for the books as far as I’m concerned. He was pitching his heart out…he set the tempo for us.”
Pitcher Blake Taylor: “I didn’t think I would throw nine innings….I thought to myself I’m going to go as long as I can and I’m going to go as hard as I can. Each pitch I really didn’t think about it I just went out there and I tried to stay under control.”
First Baseman Yaron Peters: “I was excited to be able to contribute to my team this much.”
