South Carolina Quotes
Head Coach Ray Tanner: “Dan Touchet is the story of the night as far as I’m concerned. He did a tremendous job for Miami giving them the chance to win the game. We had a couple of opportunities with runners on and just didn’t come through. Chris Spigner did a tremendous job for us trying to give us a chance to come back and get into that game. I would like to have had ten (runs) again tonight we just didn’t make it happen.”
On Game 3 against Miami: “I’m not concerned about what happened the past two years. I’m not concerned about anything but tomorrow’s game. You have to win this game or you hang up the bats. We’re going to come out and do the things we think we can do and hopefully that will be good enough. All I can do is be sleepless and hope we can do it tomorrow.”
Shortstop Drew Meyer: “We did have the bases loaded a couple of times and we couldn’t cash in on it. It was the case where we couldn’t get the big hit when we needed to. We’ve just got to get the big hits this year, that’s the bottom line.”
Miami Quotes:
Head Coach Jim Morris: “We’re very excited about winning, it was an outstanding crowd and it was enjoyable to play in front of them. I just think it will come down to who plays the best tomorrow. I think our guys believe in themselves. The number one thing we need to do tomorrow is play hard, relax and have fun and get out of there with a win.”
Pitcher Dan Touchet: “Coming off last week I knew I was going to have to go out there and throw strikes. I usually just try and stick with my game plan. We kind of had nothing to lose going out there.”
Second Baseman Javy Rodriguez: (On going to Omaha) “We’ve been there before and we know what it takes to get to Omaha.”
Catcher Danny Matienzo: (On his home run) “I hit that ball very solid and I put everything I could into that game.”
