COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina rising junior Marci Robinson carded a 73 Wednesday and maintained her five-stroke lead after two rounds of the Columbia City Golf Championship at The University Club. Robinson, with a two-day 141 total, is in line to capture the 2002 crown a year after finishing in second place by just one stroke.

The third and final round gets underway Thursday morning on the Lady Gamecocks’ home course in Blythewood, a par 71, 5,277-yard layout.

Robinson, who shot a tournament-record, three-under 68 in Tuesday’s first round, had a birdie and three bogies in posting the two-over 73 Wednesday. She has a five stroke lead over three-time champion Cecilia Barksdale, who had an even-par 71 Wednesday and has a 146 two-day total. Kim Abbot is in third place at 147 while Lady Gamecock rising senior Kacy Thompson remains in fourth place at 151 after a four-over 75 Wednesday.

Kacy Thompson remains fourth after two rounds of the City Golf Championship.

Thompson and Robinson recently completed the 2002 season for South Carolina, leading USC to its second-consecutive NCAA Championships appearance and the 2002 Southeastern Conference title.
