Palo Alto, CA – The South Carolina track and field team placed four athletes in the finals tomorrow at the USATF Junior Championships, including rising sophomore Tiffany Ross who made the finals of both the 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles.

The top 2 athletes in each final will make the USA’s World Junior Championship team which will compete in Jamaica in July.

Ross won her heat of the 100m hurdles at 13.49. She later won her heat of the 400m hurdles at 57.16. She goes into the finals at No. 1 in the 100m hurdles and No. 2 in the 400m hurdles

Junior World record holder and rising sophomore Lashinda Demus won her heat of the 400m hurdles with the fastest time of the day at 56.79.

Rising sophomore Jon Fortenberry won his heat of the 400m at 46.79, going into the finals with the second fastest time.

Incoming freshman Barshawn Johnson ran a 50.33 to run the fastest time of the day in the 400m hurdles. He also advances to the finals.

Rising sophomore Chalsea Hammond was fourth in the USA Junior meet in the long jump, hitting 19′ 2 3/4.
