Dallas, Texas – South Carolina diver Holly Hodges earned a spot in the three-meter final of the Speedo National Diving Championships, placing fifth in the preliminary competition on Tuesday with a score of 490.51. The final for the three-meter competition is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Friday.

Hodges is coming off a successful sophomore season at Carolina in which she placed ninth at the NCAA Championships on the one-meter board and earned second (three-meter) and fifth place (one-meter) finishes at the SEC Championships.

Also competing at the national championships for Carolina is sophomore diver and Columbia native Lauren King. King finished 24th on the three-meter board with a score of 219.21. The 2002-03 season will be King’s first year competing at Carolina after transferring from Georgia.

Both Hodges and King will compete on Wednesday in the one-meter competition beginning at 12 p.m.
