Columbia, S.C. – Seth Rose and Angelo Niculescu were in action Thursday after gaining invitations to the prestigious ITA National Championships. Originally scheduled to be played at the Champions Club in Chattanooga, matches had to be moved to three indoor sites throughout the city.

Opening day action saw Angelo Niculescu advance into the second round with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Florida’s Oliver Levant. Niculescu will return to the court on Friday against No.11 seed Alex Vlaski of Washington.

Seth Rose was also in action on Thursday, falling 6-2, 6-1 to No.5 seed Oliver Maiberger of San Diego State. The loss drops Rose into the consolation bracket where he will square off against William Barker of Rice.

Play continues through the weekend with championship matches being played on Sunday.
