Columbus, Ga. – The softball game between the 16th-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks and the fifth-ranked Washington Huskies at the Lead Off Classic in Columbus, Ga. was delayed due to rain. Going into the bottom of the sixth inning, the Huskies have a 2-1 lead. Weather permitting, the game is scheduled to be resumed at noon, Sat. Feb. 22.
Washington had a 2-0 lead going into the fourth inning before senior Debralee Troesh hit a solo home run, her second of the season, to cut the Huskies lead in half. Junior Stacey Johnson (3-2) is the pitcher of record for Carolina, while Tia Bollinger (4-0) is on the mound for Washington.
USC’s games against Temple and Michigan have also been rescheduled. Carolina will play Temple at 1 p.m., following the completion of the USC -Washington game. The Gamecocks will play No. 15 Michigan at 9 p.m. Saturday evening.
