Austin, Texas – Sophomore diver Andy Bradley continued his success at the NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships with a seventh place finish on Friday evening on the three-meter board. Bradley opened up competition for the South Carolina men’s swimming and diving team with a second place finish on the one-meter board on Thursday. Tamas Szucs also competed for Carolina and placed 15th in the 200 freestyle earning honorable mention All-American honors. The Gamecocks sit in 20th place after two days of competition with 31 points. Auburn leads with 449 points.
“From a performance standpoint, we had success with both Tamas and Andy in the finals at night,” said head coach Don Gibb. “They have done an excellent job representing South Carolina and I think we have a good chance of hanging on to a spot in the Top 25.”
Bradley finished with a score of 559.95. Phillip Jones of Tennessee won the event with a score of 649.70. Bradley finishes his year with two All-American honors on the one and three meter boards. Szucs, the 2001 SEC champion in the 200 freestyle, earned his first honorable mention All-American honors with his 15th place finish. Szucs finished the prelim with a time of 1:36.52, just eight one hundredths off his career best time of 1:36.44 and finished the final with a time of 1:36.97.
