College Station, Texas – The USC Equestrian Team finished 10th overall at the Varsity Equestrian Championships on April 18 at Texas A&M University. Senior captain Sarah Tomasi led the Hunt Seat team with a win in equitation over fences. She put in a solid performance on a horse that appeared to be difficult with an earlier rider. Sophomore Tara Brothers placed fourth in on the flat and senior Brooke Spitzer was sixth in her section of equitation on the flat.

“We had mental errors that cost us and as a whole, we were a little off our game on Friday,” said Coach Duncan. “The fact that we have not been the healthiest this spring in key positions also added to the day.”

The University of Georgia won the overall championships after winning the Hunt Seat portion and finishing second in Western behind Oklahoma State. Oklahoma State finished second.

The Lady Gamecocks next travel to Athens, Ga. for the Southern Equestrian Championships on April 26 where they will be competing against five other schools in the Southeastern Conference.
