Columbia, S.C. –
The USTA Junior Davis Cup which has seen players such as Jim Courier, Brad Gilbert, Malavai Washington, and Ken Flach will be hosted on the campus of the University of South Carolina July 26-29.

Play, which begins at 8 a.m. each day, is in a team format and action will take place at three courts in the Columbia area: the Sam Daniel Tennis Center (USC men’s courts on Heyward Street at the Roost), the Maxcy Gregg Tennis Center (USC women’s courts on Blossom Street near Five Points) and the Columbia Tennis Center (corner of Pickens and Whaley streets at the water tower).

Teams will play a seven-point match (five singles, two doubles matches) with the winner advancing. Seventeen regions from across the country are represented, including the number one seeded Southern Region. The Southern team, coached by Rob Cameron of Lenoir City, TN, has all six players ranked in the top 100. Cameron’s son Bobby leads the way as he is ranked 18th in the country, the second highest national ranking of all 102 players in this year’s Junior Davis Cup. Only Southern California’s Jeff Das, who is ranked 16th, is higher ranked than Cameron.

The reigning champions of the Junior Davis Cup is the Midwest Region. The Midwest team is coached by Brian Etzkin. All championship draw matches from Saturday-Tuesday will be played at the Sam Daniel courts.
