SOUTH CAROLINA AT GEORGIA POST-GAME NOTES September 13, 2003

-Jason Capers’ second quarter fumble recovery was the first of his career and the fourth for the Gamecocks in 2003. Capers made his second career start against Georgia.

-George Gause recorded the first multi-sack game of his career with a career-best two. It marked the second multi-sack game by a Gamecock in 2003 (Moe Thompson had two vs. Virginia).

-Bennett Swygert completed his first collegiate pass, a 48-yard gain to Matthew Thomas in the fourth quarter.

-Demetris Summers scored his first collegiate touchdown on a 37-yard reception from Swygert (his first TD pass) in the fourth quarter. It also marked the second-longest completion by the Gamecocks this season and longest USC completion to a running back this season.

-Matthew Thomas’ 35-yard kickoff return was the longest return by a Gamecock in 2003.

-Troy Williamson had his three-game streak of touchdown receptions ended. He had caught a touchdown in each of the Gamecocks’ last three contests (at Clemson in 2002 and vs. Louisiana-Lafayette and Virginia this season).

-Travelle Wharton made his 34th career start at left tackle.

-Georgia’s 31 points were the most surrendered by the Gamecocks since LSU scored 38 on Oct. 19, 2002.
