COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina’s volleyball recruiting class was named 14th in the nation in the October 2003 issue of Volleyball Magazine. South Carolina had the highest ranked class out of the 11 Southeastern Conference teams with Florida (17) and Tennessee (20) also finishing in the top 20.

Katelyn Panzau (Belleville, Ill.), Shonda Cole (Kings Mountain, N.C.), Iris Santos (Santo Domingo, D.R.), Alexcis Thomson (Don Mills, Ont.), and Crystal Johnson (Camden, S.C.) make up the five freshman on this year’s squad with Lauren Ford (Indianapolis, Ind.) joining the team after a year’s stint at Wisconsin.
