South Carolina men’s swimming & diving will be competing in the Southern Methodist University Classic in Dallas today and Saturday beginning at 8:30 PM EST.

Teams competing in the SMU Classic with the Gamecocks include conference rival Florida, Texas A&M and SMU. Each squad will consist of eight swimmers and one diver featuring only short distance events and the one-meter and three-meter diving competitions.

The Gamecocks are coming off of a loss to Kentucky (131-108) where Istvan Bathazi and diver Dean Emmerton had strong performances with Bathazi taking first in the 400 IM and 200 breaststroke and Emmerton winning both diving events.

The USC men’s squad will return to dual action meet on Friday, January 30 hosting Alabama. The USC women’s team will next compete on Saturday, January 24 in dual meet competition vs. Miami (Fla.).
