Allen Johnson has been named USA Track & Field’s Athlete of the Week after tying the American record and winning the gold medal in the 60m hurdles at the 2004 IAAF World Indoor Track & Field Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

A four-time U.S. champion indoors, Johnson ran 7.36 seconds in posting the second-fastest time in history to win his third world indoor gold medal in the men’s 60m hurdles, tying Greg Foster’s American record set in January of 1987 at Los Angeles, Calif. Just a week prior, he won his third consecutive indoor men’s 60m hurdles title with a winning time of 7.44 seconds at the USA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Boston.

Johnson, a volunteer assistant coach at USC, is coached by Curtis Frye.
