* The 6-4, 6-2 win over #82 Paul Ciorascu (UM) gave Tom Eklund his second straight victory in singles play. Eklund is now 17-4, 4-3 SEC in singles play this season and is 2-2 against ranked opponents. Eklund recorded the only point in a 6-1 loss to Clemson Wednesday, a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Jarmaine Jenkins.
* Geraldo Knorr and Pedro Rodrigues notched their first Carolina doubles win against a ranked opponent. It was also their first win at No. 1 doubles in three matches.
* South Carolina is now 4-3 against ranked opponents in 2004. The Gamecocks are 2-2 against conference ranked opponents. USC also won at No. 21 Tennessee on Mar. 26, 4-3.
* Of the 10 Top 25 opponents on Carolina’s 2004 schedule, No. 3 Ole Miss is the highest ranked.
* The last time South Carolina beat a Top Five team was a 4-3 win over Ole Miss on April 23, 1999 in Columbia. That was also the last time Carolina beat Ole Miss. Ole Miss now leads the all-time series, 11-7.
* The last, and only other time South Carolina beat a Top Three team was a 4-3 win over No. 2 Georgia on March 31, 1994 in Columbia.
* That was South Carolina’s first win over a team ranked third in the nation. Carolina is now 1-8 against teams ranked third in the nation.
