COLUMBIA, S.C. – Three members of the South Carolina men’s golf team, juniors Alex Hamilton, Martin Rominger and Jake Thompson were all named as Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars by the Golf Coaches Association of America on Tuesday.

The award is given annually to collegiate players that are at least juniors academically and carry a 3.0 grade point average or above, have a stroke average under 75 and play in at least 70 percent of their team’s rounds during the year.

Hamilton finished the year with a 73.34 scoring average, while recording four top-10 finishes and five placements in the top 20. The junior was named to the All-SEC second team for the first time in his career and was a member of both the Dean’s List at South Carolina and the SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll.

Like Hamilton and Rominger, Thompson was a member of the Dean’s List and the SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll.

Six other members of the Gamecock men’s golf team were also named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll, including Jason Huguet, Eirik Johansen, Matt Robinson, West Strieb, and Robert Svensson. The same groups of nine, along with freshman David Kite, were members of USC’s Dean’s List following the spring semester.
