Columbia, S.C – The University of South Carolina Athletic Department has announced that the Equestrian Team will no longer be competing in the Intercollegiate House Show Association (IHSA) competitions. The team competed solely in the IHSA for six years and last year competed in the IHSA and the varsity format.

“We feel this is the best decision for equestrian at USC at this time. We need to focus on competing against other NCAA sponsored equestrian schools and less on the club teams, said Head Coach Boo Duncan. “Beating Auburn and Georgia and bringing home a national title in equestrian continues to be our focus. We are grateful to the IHSA for all it has done for USC and equestrian as a collegiate sport.”

With Tara Brothers winning the Cacchione Cup in May, the highest achievement in individual hunt seat collegiate competition, and four individuals finishing in the top ten nationally, the USC team leaves the IHSA on a high note.
